Andersen is one of the most recognized window brands in the country, and for good reason — their lineup runs from affordable entry-level options all the way to premium wood-clad units. VResh Construction has installed and replaced Andersen windows throughout the Portland metro for nearly two decades.

Here’s what sets us apart: we don’t push any single brand. When you call us, Vlad will look at your home, your goals, and your budget — then tell you honestly whether Andersen is the right fit or whether another brand would serve you better. No commission pressure. Just a straight answer.

Whether you’re replacing a single failed unit or doing a whole-house upgrade to an Andersen 400 Series or A-Series, we handle the full installation — removal, disposal, flashing, and finish carpentry — with no subcontractors and no surprises on the final invoice.

The Andersen Lineup — What Each Series Delivers

100 Series (Fibrex)
Entry-Level Durability
Andersen’s entry-level line uses their proprietary Fibrex composite — a mix of wood fiber and polymer that is twice as strong as vinyl. Low maintenance, good energy performance, and a narrower price point than the upper series. The 100 Series does not have a wood interior — Fibrex throughout. A solid choice when durability and budget take priority over aesthetics, and a wood interior is not required.
200 Series (Perma-Shield)
Affordable Wood Interior
Vinyl-clad exterior with a pine interior. The 200 Series is Andersen’s most affordable wood-interior option — paintable inside, durable outside, available in a wide range of sizes. A practical mid-range pick for budget-conscious Portland homeowners who want the warmth of real wood inside without the premium price of the 400 Series.
400 Series (Woodwright)
Flagship — Most Common in Portland
Andersen’s flagship line and the series most commonly specified in Portland renovation projects. A wood interior with an aluminum-clad exterior delivers the warmth of real wood inside and weather resistance outside. Strong energy ratings, a lifetime warranty on glass, and wide availability in Portland make this the default Andersen choice for most projects. This is the series we install most frequently.
A-Series (Architectural)
Premium Design Flexibility
Andersen’s premium offering. The A-Series emphasizes design flexibility — custom sizes, a wide color palette, flush-frame interiors, and ultra-slim sightlines. Ideal for high-end renovations, modern builds, or historic restorations where the window is part of the visual statement. Meaningfully higher price point than the 400 Series — Vlad will give you an honest assessment of whether the upgrade is worth it for your specific project.
E-Series (Eagle)
Natural Wood Performance
Wood windows with a variety of cladding options — aluminum or fiberglass exterior, a wide range of interior wood species. The E-Series prioritizes natural wood character inside and out. Best for homeowners who want authentic wood performance and appearance and are prepared to maintain a wood exterior over time.
Renewal by Andersen
Independent Installation Note
Andersen’s own replacement division — full-frame replacement units sold and installed exclusively through their dealer network. Note: VResh is an independent licensed contractor, not a Renewal by Andersen dealer. We can replace your windows with Andersen products at competitive pricing with the same quality result, without the Renewal by Andersen markup.

Why Andersen Performs in Portland’s Climate

Portland homeowners replacing aging vinyl or wood windows need to understand what they’re getting into — not just the brand, but the specific material and why it matters for this climate. Here’s what sets Andersen apart.

Andersen Window Installation — What We Do and Why It Matters

#
Item
What We Do — And Why It Matters
1
Rough opening assessment
Measure existing rough opening, assess framing condition, check for moisture damage, and rot at sill and jamb framing. Andersen windows require specific rough opening tolerances — we verify before ordering to avoid field modifications.
2
Lead testing (pre-1978 homes)
Test all surfaces that will be disturbed. Portland’s housing stock includes a significant proportion of pre-1978 construction — RRP compliance is standard on every VResh project involving older homes.
3
Remove existing window
Remove the existing window unit, sash, stops, and exterior trim. Inspect the rough opening fully — this is where dry rot and moisture damage are found. Many Portland windows have concealed water damage not visible from the interior.
4
Structural repair (if needed)
Repair any rot or moisture damage in the rough opening framing, sill, and jambs before new installation. Installing a quality Andersen window over rotten framing does not protect the investment — this step is non-negotiable on every VResh project.
5
Sill pan flashing
Install a formed sill pan at the bottom of the rough opening before setting the window. Sill pan flashing catches any water that passes the window and directs it to the exterior. Standard on every VResh installation — routinely skipped on budget installations.
6
Weather-resistive barrier integration
Integrate window installation with existing or new WRB — housewrap or building paper. Lap the WRB over the sill pan and under the head flashing for a continuous drainage plane. Critical for Portland’s 40-inch annual rainfall.
7
Set and shim the window
Set the Andersen unit in the opening, shimming plumb and level. Andersen windows are manufactured to tight tolerances and operate correctly only when installed plumb and level — racking a window during installation is a common installation error.
8
Head flashing
Install head flashing above the window unit, integrated into the WRB above. This is one of the most commonly missing details on Portland window replacements — its absence is the leading cause of water infiltration above the window.
9
Insulate and air seal
Fill the gap between the window frame and rough opening with low-expansion foam. Andersen windows provide strong thermal performance — that performance is only fully realized when the rough opening is properly air-sealed around the frame perimeter.
10
Exterior trim
Install exterior casing, back-primed and properly bedded in sealant. Match the existing profile on historic homes. On Andersen A-Series installations, coordinate the trim profile with the window’s flush-frame exterior detail.
11
Interior trim & final walkthrough
Install interior casing to match the existing trim profile. Walk through the finished work with the homeowner, confirm operation of all operating sash, and hand off warranty documentation. Job site left clean.

OUR FAQS

Andersen Window Replacement — Common Questions

Is VResh Construction a certified Andersen installer?
VResh is an independent licensed contractor — not a Renewal by Andersen dealer or factory-certified installer. We source and install Andersen products at competitive pricing with the same precision installation. You get Andersen windows installed correctly, without the Renewal by Andersen markup.
What does Andersen window replacement cost in Portland?
+
Andersen window replacement in the Portland metro typically runs $800–$1,800 per window installed, depending on series (100 vs. 400 vs. A-Series), window type, and opening condition. The 400 Series is the most common request. We provide itemized written estimates — no ballpark ranges, no surprises.
What’s the difference between the Andersen 400 Series and A-Series?
+
The 400 Series is Andersen’s flagship production line — wood interior, aluminum-clad exterior, strong energy ratings, lifetime glass warranty. The A-Series is their premium architectural line — custom sizing, flush-frame interiors, slimmer profiles, wider color palette. The A-Series costs meaningfully more. Vlad will tell you honestly whether the upgrade is worth it for your specific project.
How long does a window replacement take?
+
A single window takes 2–4 hours. A whole-house replacement (10–15 windows) typically runs 2–3 days. We schedule all work with a firm start date, show up on time, and leave the job site clean at the end of every day.
How does Andersen compare to Marvin for a Portland historic home?
+
Both are premium wood-interior window brands. The key difference is the exterior material: Andersen 400 Series uses aluminum cladding; Marvin Elevate uses Ultrex fiberglass, which is more dimensionally stable and holds paint longer. For Portland’s Craftsman bungalows, where authenticity and longevity are both priorities, Marvin Elevate has a slight edge on exterior durability. For homeowners who prefer Andersen’s brand, dealer network, or A-Series design options, the 400 Series is an excellent choice. We install both — Vlad will give you a straight comparison on your specific project.
Can you replace just the glass or sash in an Andersen window?
+
Yes — if the frame is structurally sound and the rough opening is dry, a sash or glass replacement is often the right call. Vlad will assess whether a partial replacement makes sense or whether a full-frame replacement is the better long-term investment. We will not upsell you on a full replacement if a sash swap solves the problem.
Do you handle window replacement permits in Portland?
+
Window replacements in Portland typically do not require a permit when replacing like-for-like in the same opening. If structural changes are involved, we handle the permit process. Vlad will confirm what applies to your project during the estimate visit.
What warranty do Andersen windows carry?
+
The Andersen 400 Series carries a lifetime warranty on glass seal failures — one of the strongest glass warranties in the industry at this price point. Hardware and parts carry a 10-year warranty. The A-Series carries a 20-year glass warranty. Full warranty documentation is provided at project completion.
