How We Work — The VResh Construction Process

Written Estimates. Owner-Supervised Projects. Consistent Crew. Clear Communication. No Surprise Bills. Licensed OR #241979 — Serving Portland Since 2005.

Four men standing in front of a white service van, wearing work hoodies and gloves, smiling and chatting.

The most common complaint Portland homeowners have about contractors is not about the finished work — it is about the experience of getting there. Unanswered calls. Crews who show up three days late and leave without explanation. Change orders that appear after the contract is signed. A "project manager" you've never met who seems to be managing six other jobs at the same time. VResh Construction was built around a different model. Here is exactly how a VResh project works — from your first call to the day we leave your property.

Group of five people standing and sitting outside a white work van on a paved surface, with trees in the background. The van has company signage for VRESH Construction, advertising building and renovation services. There are window and door frames on the ground in front of the van, and a small ladder next to the group. The people are smiling and appear to be workers and a customer.

What We Do — And Why It Matters
1
You call or contact us
Call (503) 272-6436 or submit the estimate form at /free-estimate. You will reach us directly — not a call center, not an answering service. We pick up or call back the same day.
2
Brief intake conversation
We ask a few questions about what you're seeing, the age of your home, and what you're hoping to accomplish. This helps us understand what to look for when we visit and whether we're the right contractor for your project.
3
On-site assessment
Vlad or a VResh senior estimator visits your home. We walk the project scope with you, probe suspect areas, and look at anything adjacent to the primary scope that might affect the work. We focus on understanding the actual condition rather than selling.
4
Honest assessment
If we discover conditions suggesting the scope is larger than expected — such as rot behind caulk failure or moisture damage above a window — we tell you immediately and explain the real condition before any contract discussion.
5
Pre-1978 test (if applicable)
If the home was built before 1978 and painted surfaces will be disturbed, we test for lead or schedule testing before work begins and incorporate EPA RRP compliance into the estimate.
6
Written scope and cost
Within 2–5 business days you receive a written estimate outlining scope, materials, inclusions, exclusions, and price. The quoted price is fixed — not something adjusted after work begins.
7
Questions and revisions
You may request clarification, scope adjustments, or alternative pricing before signing so everything is clearly understood prior to the project.
8
Contract execution
Once the scope and price are agreed upon, a written contract is signed. Work begins only after the contract is executed and the start date is scheduled.
9
Permits (if required)
If permits are required for structural work, windows, roofing, or other regulated work, we handle the permit application and coordinate inspections.
10
Material ordering
All required materials are ordered in advance so work is not delayed by supply issues. Long-lead products are scheduled accordingly.
11
Schedule confirmation
Before work begins we confirm the start date and timeline. If anything changes, you are informed immediately.
12
Consistent crew
The same crew remains on your project from start to completion to maintain consistency and familiarity with the scope.
13
Owner on site
Vlad personally checks every project. For larger jobs he is present daily; for smaller jobs he visits at key stages and remains directly reachable.
14
Scope changes handled in writing
If hidden issues expand the scope, we stop work, show you the problem, explain the solution, and issue a written change order before proceeding.
15
Daily site discipline
Each day the site is cleaned and materials are organized to minimize disruption to your home and routine.
16
Final punch list walk
Before completion we perform a detailed walkthrough with you to identify any remaining adjustments or corrections.
17
Punch list completion
All punch list items are resolved before final payment is collected.
18
Written warranty and documentation
You receive documentation of completed work, permit records if applicable, and warranty information including manufacturer registrations.
19
Follow-up contact
We follow up approximately 30 days after completion to confirm everything is functioning properly and address any warranty needs.

Client's Talk

We have a wealth of experience working as main building contractors on all kinds of projects, big and small, from home maintenance and improvements to extensions, refurbishments and new builds.

Why We Built the Business This Way

Vlad Reshetnyk founded VResh Construction after 19 years working in the Portland exterior renovation market — including years working for contractors who operated the way most contractors operate: crews managed remotely, scope changes handled informally, and homeowner calls answered only when convenient. He built VResh as the company he would want to hire if he were the homeowner. That means personal involvement on every project, written documentation at every stage, and accountability that goes directly to the person whose name is on the license.

VResh is a small company by design. We do not take on more projects than we can supervise properly. We do not grow by hiring crews we don't know and managing them from an office. Growth at VResh means better projects, better outcomes, and longer relationships with the homeowners we work with — not more projects with less attention on each.

OUR FAQS

Process FAQs — Portland Homeowners

How quickly can I get an estimate?
We typically schedule estimate visits within 3–7 business days of your initial contact. For emergency situations such as storm damage or active water intrusion, we prioritize same-day or next-day visits and are available 24/7.
Will the same crew work my project from start to finish?
+
Yes. We do not rotate crews between projects mid-job. The same team that starts your project sees it through to completion. For larger projects requiring specialized trade work such as electrical or plumbing, we bring in long-term trade partners we have worked with consistently.
What if you find additional problems once work starts?
+
If additional issues are discovered, we stop work, document the condition, show you the findings, and provide a written change order before proceeding. We never continue work and bill you afterward without approval. On many exterior projects in Portland, some level of moisture damage behind siding or trim is common due to the local climate.
How do I reach you during the project if I have a question?
+
You will have Vlad’s direct cell number as well as the main office number from the start of the project. Calls and texts are answered or returned the same day so you can communicate directly without going through multiple layers of coordinators.
